Benefits

What Editloft changes for each role on your desk

Editloft does not try to run your newsroom. It makes three things visible and controllable, and each of them helps a different person at the desk.

By role

Who gains what

Managing editors

See the whole desk, decide what goes out

  • Plan the week on one calendar, with drafts kept apart from what is scheduled.
  • Move a story to another day with a drag, not a trip through the edit screen.
  • Keep the last word on what publishes, schedules and comes down.

Writers and contributors

Know what you can do and hand work over cleanly

  • Send a draft to pending review when it is ready.
  • Never click a Publish button that was going to fail.
  • See the history of your own post if a date or status changes.

Site owners and administrators

Control without micromanaging

  • Choose which roles can publish, schedule and unpublish.
  • Answer who changed a status or date in seconds.
  • Switch off any module you do not need, and rely on software that makes no outbound requests.

Developers and agencies

Predictable, scriptable and open

  • Read audit history with WP-CLI or REST.
  • Reshape the rules with filters instead of patching the plugin.
  • Hand a client a small, tested plugin under a familiar license.

Outcomes

What that adds up to

  1. Fewer surprises

A calendar that shows the real plan makes a thin Friday visible on Monday.

  2. Faster answers

The audit trail turns who did that into a quick look instead of a hunt.

  3. Clear ownership

When roles decide who publishes, there is no doubt about who is responsible for what goes out.

Lightweight

Nothing you have to switch off

Editloft is deliberately small. It carries three modules, each independent, and a disabled module loads nothing. It adds no stylesheet to every admin page, sends no data anywhere and asks for no account.

  • Free under GPLv2 or later, with no paid tier
  • Works in the block editor, on current PHP
  • Actively maintained: see the dated changelog

Good to know

Where Editloft is not the right fit

If your team relies on custom post statuses, private editorial comments, editorial metadata fields, email notifications or a story budget, those are not in Editloft. Compare it with Edit Flow before you decide.

Free, open source, GPLv2

Try Editloft on a staging copy of your site

It is free, it takes a minute to install, and you can switch each module off again from one settings screen.
