Editloft
Editorial workflow for modern WordPress, free

A real editorial pipeline for WordPress, not just Draft and Published

Editloft is a fresh fork of Edit Flow, rewritten for the block editor, full site editing and current PHP. Custom post statuses so a story can be a pitch before it is a draft, editorial comments that stay attached to the piece, a calendar an editor can plan around, and the metadata a team tracks alongside a story.

What it gives an editorial team

  • Custom statuses: Pitch, Needs review, and whatever your desk actually uses, instead of pretending Draft covers it
  • Editorial comments kept on the draft they belong to, where the next person can find them
  • A calendar that shows the month the way an editor plans it
  • Editorial metadata for the details a team tracks alongside a story

Why a fork

Edit Flow got the editorial ideas right fifteen years ago and is still carrying architecture built for a different WordPress. Editloft keeps the discipline and rewrites the machinery: block editor, full site editing, modern PHP. More modules are coming one at a time, in the open.

Requirements

WordPress 6.4 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer. Licensed GPLv2 like the project it grew from. Try it on a staging site before your live one, the same as any plugin that touches your publishing workflow.

Editloft is live and free. The download and the story behind it are on the plugin page; the code is on GitHub.
